1966 The early start of winter initially stopped Willy Thaler’s project to build a “Jausenstation” on the Planai. But Willy, the businessman from Untertal couldn’t be stopped by that and used the bricks already delivered for the building, to build an igloo and a snow bar, where he served drinks to his first guests... |
1968 It was the year when the Jausenstüberl "Tauernblick" was built. There was no electricity or telephone, but there was gaslight and wood. This first building was surrounded by a nice terrace and had room for 30 people. |

1980 Willy’s sons were now old enough in order to help to extend the lodge. A new name of the enterprise was borne: "Berggasthof Tauernblick", but the term "Onkel Willy’s Hütte" remained more popular. Until today this traditional lodge has won numerous awards, e.g.. "the most popular hut of Austria". |
2000 The last extension of “Onkel Willy’s Hütte” was in the year 2000, where the Aprés ski bar "Salettl" surrounded by magnificent views and the enlargement of the sunny terrace were accomplished. |

In the summer 2003 a new cosy fire-place bar was built, the gallery was renewed and the Steirerstüberl was turned into a non smoking area. |
